Dear Creator - Turing Fest 2020
Apr. 10th, 2020 05:59 pmHi there! Thank you so much for sharing my fandoms and excitement about robot characters, and for creating for me!
Here are some of my thoughts about the fandoms I've requested - please feel free to use any of them as prompts, or just to use them as a guideline instead! Thanks for reading.

General likes:
• Character studies
• Hurt/comfort of all stripes (sickfic, injuries, emotional h/c - I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort of any description, as long as it's not hurt without comfort)
• Missing scenes, slice-of-life, etc - exploring canon character dynamics/canon traits of known characters
• Exploring the fallout of canon trauma
• Touch starvation
• Deep friendships
• Earned trust and casual intimacy (carrying, clothes sharing, characters only allowing touch from people they trust, etc)
• Bonding over shared trauma
• PTSD, illness messing with a character's grip on reality, combat/mission injuries, scars, and injuries acting up, touch starvation, sensory deprivation / sensory overload, characters not believing they deserve comfort or being surprised to receive comfort
• Eventually requited pining
• Worldbuilding
• Outsider POV, especially when contrasted with our characters' POV
• Mission aftermaths
• Pain, bittersweetness, sadness, exploring the darker side and implications of canon is great, but I really need some happiness/comfort and hope along with it!
Robot-specific likes:
Robots learning to Feel Things, or to communicate their emotions. Humans learning to understand the robots' ways of feeling; learning curves. Robots communicating in ways other than traditionally human speech (readouts, code, visual signals, technical terms/errors/diagnostics, etc - not all robots are verbal and many have different ways of perceiving the world based on the function they were built for - please feel free to go wild thinking of their POVs and means of communication!)
I love the idea of humans and robots who have a working relationship slowly getting to know each other and growing to trust one another as friends, especially robots allowing themselves to be vulnerable to maintenance techs who are gentle with them and explain why they're doing what they're doing, as opposed to being reluctant to see maintenance techs who treat them as having no choice but to be touched/upgraded/etc.
For humanoid robots in particular, I love the idea of them being introduced to human pleasures of the senses, like taste and touch, especially in a sexual way, and humans being introduced to robot sensual pleasures as well - what artistic/community-focused/sexual/musical subcultures do robots have, for instance? Show me what an edgy robot looks like. Show me a human and a robot introducing each other to the hobbies and cultures they enjoy. :D
Sexual likes:
Gentle d/s overtones. Femdom. Service subs. Subs With Issues. Praise kink. Hands, fingers, touch; touch starvation. Finger-sucking. Aftercare. Tenderness, especially if the person receiving it isn't expecting it, isn't used to it, and it breaks them just a little.
Marking, intentional or no - bruising with lips or teeth; hiding the bruises under clothing. Suit kink. Wrists bound or held down. Honour bondage. Careful sex / making out when one partner is hurt or ill and feverish (fever sex is, uh, a Thing of mine). Or rough, desperate, life-affirming sex / making out.
Art likes:
Realistic and sketchy styles, bold lines and rich colours/textures, bold accent colours, creative lighting choices, noir-style art especially for action canons, minimalist styles/silhouettes, characters captured in unaware moments as though they're being photographed without realizing it, art that captures the vibe of canon without necessarily capturing the style of canon; angsty hurt/comfort or warm, gentle, casually intimate moments
Kisses of all descriptions, especially on the forehead, hands, or collarbone. Characters undressing their injured/sick partners or taking off their glasses, if they wear them, or doing maintenance work on a 'sick'/hurt robot. Sick/hurt characters with their hair messed up, perhaps hiding their faces in other characters' chests or shoulders. Smaller characters getting carried bridal style when they're not feeling well, maybe clinging to the character carrying them if they're not unconscious. Just hands in general, especially if they're scratched or hurt and being taken care of. :D
(I'm vaguely not-okay with pink or green as a dominant/background colour, but I love...well, basically every other colour there is. :D)
General DNWs:
• Mundane/depowered/setting change AUs
• Bleak, hopeless endings (as long as there's hope, bittersweet endings are fine!)
• Unrequested crossovers and fusions
• Any mention of coronavirus or quarantine/lockdown situations
• Death of requested characters (even if they died in canon)
• Non-canonical character death
• Terminal illness
• Gastrointestinal illness (nausea/vomiting is okay but not as a result of GI illness)
• Pregnancy (exception: one prompt for a Jack/Vika child under Oblivion, but I'd still rather pregnancy not be the focus of the work), menstruation
• Infidelity
Sexual DNWs:
• Noncon or dubcon, except where noted (see Oblivion section)
• humiliation as a kink, except where noted (see Oblivion section)
• anal, dirty talk, spanking, ageplay, scat, watersports, rimming, emeto, A/B/O, d/s-verse, mommy/daddy kink, maledom/femsub

Jack Harper & the Drones
Jack Harper & Drone He Refurbished Post-Movie
Jack Harper/Jack Harper & the Drones
Jack Harper/Vika Olsen & the Drones
Jack's main job for his five years on earth has been as a maintenance technician for the drones. I love how the film frames the drones as though they're sentient, and how Jack speaks to and of them as though they're animals, pets or just Large, Deadly Friends; he calms them with his voice, they clearly feel reassured by his presence and feel the need to defend him, and at one point he asks the surrounding people to 'give it some space, you're making it nervous', which got me right in the heart.
Jack 49, in light of the plot reveal later in the film, is shown to feel some kinship with the drones, too: "no, it's just a machine - I'm the weapon". I'd love for this kinship, this mutual understanding, to be explored in some way.
I'm also very here for the drones' POV of Jack and Vika's relationship - we see in canon that Vika 49 is not good to Jack 49 (to the extent of kissing him quiet against his will when he talks about something she doesn't like), and that Vika 52 isn't very concerned for Jack 52's well-being. I imagine that there might be some Vikas who were better to their Jacks, and also that there might be some who were worse. What do the different Drone 109s, who live in their Jack and Vika's towers, think of the relationship they witness? What do they think of humanity at all, since they're programmed to kill other humans but leave the techs unharmed - what cognitive dissonances do they face because of it?
Some additional thoughts -
Pre- or During Canon:
• slice-of-life fic showing Jack getting to know the drones in the way you would get to know a new pet, noticing the little differences between them - he knows they understand him when he speaks, but given that they're nonverbal, how does he start to understand what they're feeling, rather than just what they're programmed to do? does he pet them, hug them, curl up and rest with them sometimes? what's the origin of their easy mutual trust?
• Jack taking the drones into his confidence in a way he can't do with Vika, though he wishes he could. What do the drones think of their tech's murmured thoughts about Earth being his home, about a sport they don't understand in a world they've never known, about him growing a flower in a can to give Vika because apparently humans give other humans things as a sign of affection?? why does that make them feel warm and pleasant??
• There's a scene where Jack 49 has to talk a drone down from hurting a stray animal, and steps into its line of fire to do so. What if he was a split second too late to stop it firing, and it hurt him instead of its target? How would the drone's programming deal with that cognitive dissonance? Would it try to fix him or take care of him? Follow him home? Would that drone turn pacifist and refuse to hurt any other living beings? Would it try to apologize?
• This prompt is an exception to my noncon/dubcon/humiliation m DNW. As I mentioned above, Vika 49 is not good to Jack 49, and when she pressures him into sex there's a distinct sense that he's going along with it despite not really wanting it. There are a few Vika-noncons-Jack thoughts here - I wonder what Drone 109 or the others would think about this situation, since they often seem fairly receptive to Jack's emotional state. Would they realize there's something wrong? Would they realize he's sad? Would they realize that Vika's infrared readings show pleasure while Jack's don't?
Post-Canon:
• I am super here for the drones' exploration of the differences between various Jacks, both canon and original - after the film, when the Tet falls, they can actually meet each other, and the differences would then be visible firsthand. Maybe some of them are permanently injured, and have had to learn to live with and make accommodations for their levels of ability; maybe those are the Jacks whom the drones can first tell apart from the others. Maybe there's a Jack in a wheelchair, or one who was otherwise badly hurt when the Tet came down, or just a lot of Jacks with surprisingly different life circumstances despite their supposedly identical situations. I'd love for some Jacks and Vikas to find each other and try to build a community when the Tet comes down, and take care of each other with love and tenderness when they need it. I'd especially love for 49 to fall in love with another Jack, who looks after him and makes him feel loved and wanted in a way he's never known before, and perhaps for a drone to watch it happening and Have Feelings about it.
• Relatedly, I imagine some Vikas may not have been as abusive as Vika 49, but it's also possible there are other Vikas who were worse. I'd love to have the drones' POV on how their Jacks have been affected by that. Maybe some Jacks stayed with abusive Vikas until they couldn't take any more. Maybe there are Jacks who developed coping mechanisms like self-harm or issues with food, or still have nightmares or anxiety attacks, or startle when anyone even lightly touches them. Maybe - an exception to my pregnancy/kidfic DNW - maybe there's a Jack/abusive Vika couple who had a child after the Tet fell, and the child was what made Jack realize he had to save them and himself and leave her.
• And finally, the drones themselves have some reconciling and coping to do. I'd love to see a drone that one of the Jacks restored after the Tet fell coming to terms with the fact that it was created to kill humans, and slowly getting used to classifying things into slots other than 'destroy' and 'don't destroy'. I'd love for a Jack (or a few!) to repurpose some drones for various different post-apocalypse uses - recon, farming, engineering assistants, what have you - and for the drones to take eagerly to their new Very Important And Exciting Jobs. :D

Robot Series - Isaac Asimov
Fanfic, Fanart
Daneel Olivaw/Elijah Baley
Daneel Olivaw & Elijah Baley
HI I LOVE THESE BOYS AND THEIR FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE AND LOYALTY SO MUCH. I love all four Robot books, but my favourite dynamic between Daneel and Lije is in the first two novels, where they're kind of still feeling each other out but deeply fond of each other nonetheless, and Lije is all stoic and awkward and just a little resentful of the fact that he has Emotions about a Robot and it's just all kinds of great.
My requests are for both fanart and fanfic, so I'll put some thoughts here for both:
Fic prompts
• We never do get to see Daneel's point of view when he steps in to help Lije while he's ill, hurt or vulnerable. I'd love to hear his thoughts and/or feelings when Lije is hurting - whether a canon instance of such, or just something else (a normal human illness, migraine, etc).
• Similarly, we know Lije hates being vulnerable, so how does Daneel gain his trust in situations where he's not 100%? Does he hover all concerned-like when Lije is an idiot and refuses to rest? How does he work with Lije's general Anxious Tendencies when they're super on edge? Does Daneel end up massaging the tension out of Lije's temples or shoulders, while Lije absolutely boggles that this is a thing robots are taught/programmed to do/can learn?
• On similar lines, we see Daneel glitch just a little when humans come to preventable harm, especially if he believes he himself could have prevented it. What happens when Lije gets hurt on his watch? How do they comfort each other in their various degrees of suffering?
• What if Lije really did kiss Daneel when he clearly wanted to (when he first saw him in The Naked Sun)? How does Daneel think/feel about romantic affection?
• Daneel is used to being concerned about Lije's safety - he is a squishy human, after all - but he's not at all used to his own safety being cared about. How does he deal with the squishy human worrying about him?
Art prompts
• A fancast that's super close to my heart is Tommy Lee Jones as Lije and Harrison Ford as Daneel (both actors looking as they did circa late 80s-early 90s). I'd love a scene from any of the books, or even a cover redraw/reinterpretation of Caves of Steel, with these two actors as the characters.
• I love the scene of Daneel helping Lije walk, despite Lije's reluctance to lean on a robot.
• Daneel being intriguedand charmed by an Earth cat, having never seen a cat before, and Lije being incredibly amused by this.
• Lije asleep on Daneel's shoulder.
• Daneel bridal-carrying Lije (it's canon! but it doesn't have to be the canon instance of it, I'd love it in any setting. <3)

Human Technician/Robot Sent To Them For Inexplicable Migraines
Human Restorer Of Malfunctioning & Discarded Robots/Humanoid Robot Who Gets Migraines
These two tags have taken my fancy in such a big way. I'm so intrigued by them and the subtle differences in setting between them, even though the concept is similar - the first tag seems to imply the robot was sent to the tech because their migraines were interfering with their work, while the second seems to imply that the robot was discarded when their migraines rendered them no longer useful, and found or taken in by the restorer.
I'm so very here for all the hurt/comfort feelings in either of these scenarios - the robot not quite understanding what's happening to them, perhaps, while the human hates seeing them suffer, and grows fonder and fonder of them when the headaches persist and it turns out they'll keep seeing them for a while. What does 'treating' the robot entail? How do robots feel when they're malfunctioning? Is being powered down against their will traumatic for them - even if it's for 'medical' reasons? I'm here for robots suffering symptoms of 'illness' analogous to humans, caused by technical malfunctions or even by human error or human negligence. What are their other symptoms - do they lose track of time, are their memories scrambled, do they have 'aura' symptoms like aphasia sometimes? How do they communicate their distress? (How do they communicate in general?) What's causing their migraines - is it a mystery to be solved? A glitch, a malfunction, an occupational hazard, sabotage? Or were they injured in a recent major incident? Are they being blamed for their pain or held accountable for what's gone wrong? Does the tech/restorer protect them while they're vulnerable, help them restore their blameless record if they're being treated unfairly? What does it take for the robot to start to feel better, for them to trust the tech/restorer, for them to fall in love?
Perhaps in the second scenario, with the discarded robot who was taken in, it becomes a They Were Roommates situation when it turns out the sick robot has nowhere else to go, and the human insists they stay with them. Perhaps in the first one, the robot is sent to a tech who's initially unsympathetic, since this is just their job, but slowly realizes how much pain the robot's in. Or maybe they're kind from the beginning and the robot hasn't ever experienced such gentleness/protectiveness/generosity before.
Gender Thoughts: I'm kind of seeing both the human and the robot in this request as male-presenting and using he/his pronouns.

AI Racecar/Their Human Racing Driver Who Isn't Handling The Stress Well
AI Racecar/Their Humanoid Robot Driver Whom Everyone Else Believes Is Human
AI Fighter Jet/Their Human Pilot
AI War Machine That Turns Pacifist/Human Military General
So this is the 'I Have A Lot Of Feelings About Vehicles' section! I love that they're essentially giant metal creatures with a pulse that we made to carry us and protect us. I'm generally very here for the bond that develops between a person and the car/plane/machine-with-an-engine that carries them; it happens even when the vehicle isn't sentient or sapient, so I'd love some exploration of what happens when the vehicle is, when the love and support they give their charge isn't just imagined but real. I love the thought of the human racing driver being more or less alone in the world, not knowing much about how to do anything but drive, and loving the sport but the competition and mind games and general politicking/underhandedness surrounding it getting to them, and their car being the one to give them support. Similarly for the robot driver whom everyone believes is human - why are they pretending to be human? Is it in order to be taken seriously, is it of their own free will or are they perhaps being forced to? How do they and their car bond over their shared secret?
For the fighter jet, I imagine the bond between them and their human would be even greater since they're meant to work together against an enemy. Did they get along to begin with? How many drills have they been on together? Has the human perhaps seen more of the horrors of war than the fighter jet has, and talks to them about what they've seen / calms them down when they have to face actual combat? Does the jet go against orders to prioritize protecting their human over shooting the enemy down? (Shit, can you even court-martial an AI??)
For the war machine, I imagine it could be a vehicle too, but I'm also thinking about the possibility of its being a mainframe of some kind, a central hub for the calculation of missile trajectories/strategies/etc, with access to not only enough information via the internet but also enough first-hand experience to turn pacifist. Maybe the machine is often left alone with the general in charge, and they get talking, and that's how they fall in love or get sexually involved (I really love the idea of the machine talking the general to climax, and/or the general finding out which wires to cross/which code to run/which commands to give to pleasure the machine).
I'm not sure how to prompt specifically for art here, but I hope these thoughts gave you Vibes even for art <3 I will be super happy with whatever art you'd like to come up with, especially so if it's hurt/comfort-y!
Gender Thoughts: I would love the military general to be a lady, but I'm also cool with them being a dude. Feeling the 'Humanoid Robot Driver Whom Everyone Else Believes Is Human' as a dude. Super cool with m! (he/his), f! (she/her), or nb! (they/them) for all the other characters.
