So, the thing I love most in fanwork is taking canon character dynamics and just...making them More. Taking them further, exploring their natural progression, usually in a hurt/comfort-y way. I've mentioned the character dynamics and ships I love under each fandom, along with some rambly thoughts and prompts - speaking of which, please feel free to pick, choose, mix, match, play with any, all or even none of said prompts, if that's where the muse takes you. 💛
I love hurt/comfort with all my heart and soul, so most of the prompts here will probably contain it to some degree.
I am a-okay with any kind of exploration of character dynamics - h/c, casefic, fluff fic, angst, missing scenes, outsider POV, outsider POV contrasted with canon characters' POV, getting together fic, established relationship, you name it I love it. I'm also very much okay with or without smut - I enjoy it, but if you've matched on multiple ratings, please don't feel pressured to include it or not to include it. :D

I love kisses of all descriptions, especially at the forehead, temple, hands, throat, or collarbone. I love characters undressing each other, reverently for most pairings, roughly for some (see Collateral and Top Gun). I love seeing characters in partial states of undress rather than seeing them completely naked, especially if there's also a focus on their hands or collarbones or throat. I love seeing characters with love bites, hickeys or bruises; I love characters touching and tracing other characters' wounds or scars, especially if it looks like they got distracted while undressing them to do so. I love characters in shibari, especially under dress shirts, or characters' wrists being tied with something luxurious like velvet or ribbon.
I also love h/c focused art - characters undressing their injured/sick partners or taking off their glasses, if they wear them (eg. Hunley, Mancuso, Ethan in MI 1). Characters patching sick/hurt characters up, with stitches or bandages or ice packs, or cleaning scrapes on the hurt character's face or hands. Sick/hurt characters with their hair messed up, perhaps hiding their faces in other characters' chests or shoulders. Hurting characters sitting at other characters' feet to be taken care of with hair stroking or shoulder rubs, or just burying their face in the other character's lap. Smaller characters getting carried bridal style when they're not feeling well, maybe clinging to the character carrying them if they're not unconscious. (I'm vaguely not-okay with pink or green as a dominant/background colour, but I love...well, basically every other colour there is. Jewel tones are great! Limited palettes are great! Bold colours are great! Whatever you can think of is great! I love it all. :D Style-wise I would prefer no chibis or overly cartoonish styles; I'm very cool with anything and everything else, including experimental styles!)

CANON DOMME/SUB DYNAMICS RIGHT HERE! These two were flirting so hard from the very moment they met, Max was so very domme and Ethan so very subby and eager, and it was fully mutual and consensual - they may be rivals in an uneasy allyship, but they like and respect each other so damn much; they both play completely fair at all times, clearly enjoy their banter, and look like they'd be all over each other should circumstance permit. So my prompt here is...let circumstance permit.
There's a sort of deep affection between these two that goes beyond their fiery sexual tension. When Max and Ethan met, Ethan was at his shakiest and most vulnerable; he'd just lost his whole found family in one night, and been framed for their deaths when he tried to call for help. He put up a damn good front for Max - he had to, playing the high-stakes cloak-and-dagger spy game he was forced to play - but it's not unreasonable to figure she might realize there's something else beneath the surface. Not unreasonable to figure an experienced domme could tell what he needs, and that she might want to give.
Max is a whole lot taller than Ethan as well as being much older, which I find all kinds of lovely; she also lives a super luxurious high-society life. I imagine she also has fine taste in clothes and jewellery and would take them off a partner with some attention, and appreciate the same being done for her, especially at her direction. Ethan is the kind to be similarly attuned to detail, and (especially when as young as he is around the time of MI:1) he is also the kind to be breathlessly eager to please and to be Good. He's also shaken up and miserably touch-starved, and might tear up on receiving unexpected physical affection, so make of that what you will.
Maybe Ethan lets Max take him to bed during MI:1, or maybe they run into each other afterwards by chance, and pick up their recent acquaintance right where it left off. Maybe Max takes him out to dinner or the opera or something equally opulent and befitting her position in high society, and spoils him rotten for the night; what's Max's belongs to Max, and nobody gets to touch him but her. Especially if he's fresh from a mission and hurt or ill, but still so very eager to suit up and take her arm and be the best damn service sub for her. Maybe she'll keep him protectively close at her side all evening, gently clean blood off his injured face and hands with her handkerchief, make sure to let him know how very good he's being, and then bind his wrists or cover his eyes with his own necktie in the bedroom later.
...Or maybe they just fall into bed, and it just so happens that Max is completely in control, as Max is wont to be. And Max, good at being gentle but firm, can tell when a sub is hurting, or when they want to safeword but don't, or when they want to keep going but are too injured or sick to make it much further, and she breaks the scene to give Ethan the comfort he needs, even if she may never know what caused the hurt.
Basically I am 100% Here for Max Giving Ethan A Whole Lotta Love And Praise In Luxurious Surroundings. And for that love and praise and gentleness just...kinda destroying him, and maybe even making him cry, because he needs it so badly. (Max knows that, too.)

Sarah Davies/Ethan
I really like Ethan's dynamic with his original team, before it all went to hell in the first half-hour of MI: 1. For Ethan/Sarah, I'm mostly thinking about an exploration of that dynamic set pre-MI:1 - it's easy to read Ethan and Jack's gentle banter as both Ethan and Jack pining a little bit for Sarah, who's a bit older and more experienced as an agent than they are. Ethan's very clearly the baby of this team, and it looks like they haven't been working together long enough to develop the quiet intimacy Ethan has with his current team. It's also pretty much canon that Ethan's nowhere near the badass flirty spy archetype outside of missions, but an awkward nerd instead, doubly so with people he's really fond of. This team is all quiet people, but Sarah seems the quietest, and I think she'd take to the quiet nerd side of Ethan a great deal.
I would love to see Ethan pining for Sarah for a while, hardly daring to think she'd like him back, and Sarah being the one to kiss him or ask him out. I'd love to see all the soft hurt/comfort, their low-key, quiet little team-within-the-team dynamic, see Ethan just absolutely unable to believe Sarah would look twice at him and blush deeply or hide his face when she kisses him. She's a more senior agent than he is, definitely knows her way around the world; I could see her being put in charge of missions with this team when Jim was unavailable - so it feels likely that Ethan is already used to taking orders from her, and might have already had vague thoughts about wanting to do so in a romantic-sexual way. I'd love to see Sarah being protective of him, both in the field and out, looking out for his comfort even while she's tying him up with his necktie or the waistband off her dress. I'd love her to be very aware that he's completely starstruck and would do anything for her, and therefore always ask him to do gentle, easy things (honour bondage, instructing him how to undress her and take her hair down, telling him how and where to kiss her) - unless it's a matter of life and death. I'd love to see her use her Domme Voice to stop Ethan doing something that would put him in mortal danger during a mission, and then being super gentle with him in bed when he's hurt afterwards. I'd also just generally love to see her ordering Ethan to stay still while she patches him up when he's injured, or wrapping him in blankets/cradling his head in her lap when he's sick or possibly hypothermic as a result of a mission.
Of course, canonically, this ends in tragedy, with Sarah dying traumatically at the beginning of MI:1. I feel like they weren't together for long before that point, and I'm very open to hearing about Ethan coping with the heartbreak of losing her so awfully, in addition to the trauma and horror of that whole night and the rest of the film.

Jane Carter/Ethan
I love these two because they're so very similar! I love them SO MUCH as kickass spy friends-with-D/s-benefits, but I'm not opposed to that growing into more. Their canon dynamic is full of mutual respect, collaborative ass-kicking, and...that one quiet moment of shared grief, in which Ethan Tried To Help Jane get over her grief and survivor's guilt, and even kinda succeeded a little bit. They both like to be in control but can both wing it when necessary, they both have massive guilt/martyr complexes, they're both excellent mission leaders who are tough as hell but secretly incredibly gentle. Jane is just a little bit less experienced in the field than Ethan, and just a little more of a hothead, but Ethan's been there himself and can clearly point her gently in the right direction without cramping her style.
I love that Jane is tall enough to cradle Ethan's head against her shoulder even if they're both barefoot, and even more easily if she's in heels. I love that she's strong enough to hold Ethan down, strong enough to hurt him and loving enough to not hurt him, and that they have such deep professional trust in each other that they just might get off on trusting each other in bed, too.
I'd love to see them making out and/or having sex in a happy, laughing, mid-or post-successful-mission adrenaline high, with both of them ill or injured in different ways and having to be gentle because of it, but also knowing exactly which boundaries to push and exactly how much pain can be a little bit fun. Maybe Jane holding Ethan down or pinning him by his wrists, and Ethan letting her because he trusts her so much and god knows he's earned a little indulgence of his submissive tendencies tonight. Maybe suit kink or just suit porn (Jane in a tux right alongside Ethan? Meow, yes please.) Maybe one of them accidentally moving wrong enough to aggravate an injury and the other apologizing/holding them in a sudden switch from happy-playful-roughish to soft and gentle. Maybe some affectionate hair-washing in the shower afterwards, whether that's Jane spoiling Ethan by washing his hair as needed comfort/reward for doing well, or Ethan having service sub feelings and Jane allowing him to wash her hair and pamper her. Maybe their dynamic helps them both cope after a mission that's gone wrong, with Ethan letting go of his role as team leader to let Jane comfort him, and Jane dealing with her feelings of loss of control by holding Ethan down and noticing how much he trusts her. Maybe they face a 'sex to keep their cover' situation, where the bad guys think they're making them do it but they're really already friends with benefits and have no problem putting on a show. (Maybe, just maybe, they sleep together pretty often as a friends with benefits thing, but they're both growing feelings now and in just a little bit of denial about it.)

During Canon: Dr Hineman coercing John into sex while he's literally on the verge of dying from her plant poison.
This film is full of sexual creepiness towards John - the doctor and nurse hitting on him, Hineman forcibly kissing him, and on a more subtle, insidious level there's Burgess calling him "my boy" and the film implying he's been John's sole emotional support for the past six years - and then revealing he's been manipulating him (and enabling his drug habit) all along.
Hineman is so deeply creepy and unsettling - she's almost a more intimidating villain than Burgess. That nonconsensual kiss while John was almost dying was all kinds of horrible, and I could easily see her deciding that wasn't all she wanted. Some tags from Darkest Night that would fit this situation: Altered States - Drugs (Nonconsensual), breathplay/asphyxiation during rape, Character unsure of own consent, Consensual aftercare after nonconsensual sex, Forced Kissing, Forced to Enjoy It, Inexperienced character is confused by noncon
John's already affected by the poison from Hineman's plants that grabbed him and cut him; he's barely able to speak until a few minutes after he chokes the antidote down. Maybe the antidote takes longer to work than we're shown, leaves John weaker than we're shown. Maybe it's a hallucinogen or other mental state altering substance in its own right. I'm down for Hineman coercing and/or forcing John into sex while he's too desperate and emotionally fucked up to really understand what's going on - I'm also down for him enjoying it, for her really blowing his mind and making sure that he enjoys it, and him having really conflicted feelings about it after the film.
Post-Canon: John's getting back together with Lara really, really not going well.
Post-canon, I'm really interested in how John deals and how he recovers. I'm here for John suffering through aftereffects of the halo (neurological symptoms, maybe migraines, auras, nightmares, flashbacks, days when he's trapped back in that world of torment and can't make it out, not knowing what's real) and dealing with suddenly being blind in one eye, as well as the loss of everything that's helped him survive the past six years. I'm also very here for his addiction getting worse until it reaches breaking point and he has to suffer through getting clean, withdrawal symptoms and all.
I'm pretty annoyed about the ending of the film, so I'm very much down to read John and Lara making an attempt to get back together that doesn't go well - her trying to pressure him into making things work while he's all kinds of fucked up both physically and mentally, and him just not being able to deal with anything about it, especially the constant memories of their past life together on top of all the health issues he's dealing with. They both seem heavy on denial as a coping mechanism, so I could see Lara just trying to ignore how sick and hurt John is, and him following her lead and trying to ignore it too until it gets bad enough that he can't any more. I'm down to read her pressuring John into sex when he's too sick or hurting too badly or too far gone on neuroin to want it, or even to actively participate, and him being so unwell that he eventually just gives in to her despite everything.

I don't think Lara wants or sets out to hurt John, but she has very little patience with his trauma and the long time he takes to heal, and so ends up hurting him badly anyway. I'm also very here for John gathering the courage to leave her, and trying to pick up the pieces afterwards. I'd love to see him reconstruct his life when he gets better, and adjust to a new normal with essentially a chronic illness if the effects of the halo get better but never fully leave.

Oblivion has a whole bunch of interestingly messed up character dynamics. Jack - any/every Jack - is a lovely, lovely man, whimsical and gentle, and he's in a relationship with Vika, who (though it's clearly because she has issues of her own) is subtly super controlling toward him. He can't tell her anything or talk to her about anything he does or finds or thinks about, because he knows she'll find something about it he 'shouldn't' be thinking or doing; he hides his book and his little forest hideout from her, no matter how badly he clearly wants her to share in them. When he tries, just a little, to get her to see his point of view, she panics and throws his flower away, and he looks so very miserable. In short, I don't think Vika really knows Jack at all - nor does she really know herself at all - and so their relationship ends up more or less inadvertently hurting him. I don't think Vika means to be cruel, but I think she kind of ends up being cruel sometimes anyway, and that's the dynamic I'd love to see explored between these two. Maybe Jack's sick or hurt, and Vika refuses to believe him when he tells her so, and insists on having rough sex anyway. Maybe they're having sex and she ignores him when he asks to stop, or ignores a safeword, and maybe that hurts him physically as well as violating his trust. Maybe she believes that for them to be an 'effective team', she needs to discipline him whenever he does something outside of routine. (Maybe he even liked that to begin with, as a roleplay of sorts, and later realized she didn't quite mean it as roleplay.) Maybe she gaslights him into believing he consented when he didn't. Maybe she's dismissive of his illness or pain or nightmares, but he lives for the few words of comfort she'll bother to give him because he knows it's the best he'll ever get. I'm down for all the sad, complicated dynamics between the 49s or 52s, but I'm also down for exploration of other Jack/Vika couples where that Vika is even more overtly abusive; here are some more specific thoughts about Vika sexually assaulting Jack and the trauma he'd have to live with from it.
With Jack and Julia, things are different and much kinder and sweeter, but consent-wise possibly murkier still. There's genuine feeling between them, genuine memories, but those memories aren't Jack's own, and so Jack 49 has to come to terms not only with the fact that he's never been loved but that, to Julia, he's a replacement goldfish. There's a reluctance to him when she drags him to bed, a possible feeling that he's being used, and yet he goes along with it for the sake of feeling loved for that one night - and then he gives everything up so everyone but him can live. What's going through Jack 49's head when he's letting Julia love him? Is he desperately drinking in her touch, knowing it was never meant for him? Is he in denial? Half overwhelmed and wanting to stop, but also wanting to go on because he needs to comfort her and keep her safe and happy? Is Julia a gentler domme than Vika, and does it hurt that he never got to receive such gentleness before? Does it hurt that that gentleness was meant for Commander Harper instead of him? What about Jack 52, after the film - does he go through similar things?
I'd be very here for Julia having healed a little during the three years it took 52 to find her, and having come to terms with knowing that 49 was an individual in his own right, that 52 is as well, and that while neither of them is her dead Jack, she has a lot of love to give 52 as himself. Maybe 52 hasn't yet come to terms with that himself, and is struggling and trying his best to be her dead husband, or just to please her in whatever way he can, and Julia has to figure out how much that's stressing him and help him find himself, the real him, differences and similarities to the other Jacks and all, in the bedroom and out, with lots of encouragement and praise.

I'd love some h/c focused on Lamont, with Margo being able to read his thoughts and taking none of his self-loathing/self-sacrificial bullshit. This canon begs for a delightful mix of vigilante h/c tropes and psychic superpowers h/c tropes and I am weak.
I love that in canon, the Margo/Lamont relationship is both beautifully soft and founded in the very basic tenets of consent: Margo is among the only people Lamont's mind-influencing powers don't work on, and therefore by definition she is at his side solely because she wants to be. This messes with Lamont's head a great deal, since he's an enormous disaster sub with a ton of guilt and self-worth issues and doesn't remotely believe he deserves to be loved.
I'd love to see something that picks up after the film, with established Lamont/Margo dealing with the hazards of the vigilante business - perhaps Margo finding an injured Lamont collapsed on her doorstep and having to look after him, perhaps her hearing his mind call out from miles away when he's hurting or miserable, perhaps them having to find ways to keep up their Socialite Personas for the public, such as Margo sneaking Lamont out of a party with clear We're Going To Make Out signals while he's really staggering from a gunshot wound. All the Noir Detective and Noir Vigilante and Noir Caretaking tropes! I will eat all the tropes up with a spoon!
I'd also love some exploration of the Shadow superpowers and how they work (and how they can go wrong) - perhaps with Lamont losing control of them when he's unconscious while hurt or ill, resulting in things breaking, flying around the room, people accidentally getting mind-controlled into doing odd things, maybe someone getting mildly injured, and Lamont being overwhelmed with guilt and hiding himself away when he's losing control for years until Margo realizes she's the only one who can help. I'd also love to see the effects of Lamont sometimes overusing his powers and working himself to exhaustion - perhaps it gives him migraines or gets him sick, leaving him shaky for a few days afterward, or exhausts him to the point of burnout, and this too has been going on for years before Margo walks into his life and realizes he's a whole idiot who can't sustain this way of working forever. Perhaps his occasional bouts of overusing-powers-sickness have been mistaken as hangovers or other debauchery by his uncle/butler/etc, and he's done nothing to disabuse them of the notion because it suits him for them to assume he's an empty-headed layabout. (Perhaps someone finds him in a gutter one morning too deeply unconscious to make it home, and it makes the tabloids and his uncle gives him a Stern Talking-To that he has to pretend he's taking to heart, while Margo knows the real reason and worries and shows up to domme him into letting her look after him.)
Speaking of Margo domming Lamont into letting her look after him, that's the exact dynamic for them that I love. Margo is super assertive, knows exactly what she wants at all times, is very very sexual and horny on main, and she's also very generous with comfort when Lamont needs it. Lamont, meanwhile, is all haunted and racked with guilt for his past, and afraid he'll hurt her, and also kind of awkward and embarrassed by her boldness; embarrassed to be wanted as much as she wants him. I'd love to see her taking him in hand and showing him how to let go of his guilt and nervousness and place his trust in her - him all reverent and worshipful, her patiently finding out what he needs (even if it's a long-term project, and even if what he needs is pain or bondage - perhaps especially if it is!), and maybe her giving him lots of praise and aftercare as a reward for being good for her. I also think Lamont might, in his self-flagellating way, sometimes go too far in asking for pain, and Margo might have to figure out when those times are, take care of him and reassure him, and figure out how to help him stop doing that.
I love the idea of Margo putting Lamont in shibari while he's sick, perhaps because they've found it helps keep his powers or power-induced sickness/headaches/burnout in check, perhaps as a simple exercise in comforting touch. I love the idea of Lamont just...not being able to deal with tenderness and being loved, especially so when he's ill or hurt, and Margo having to kiss away tears of sensory overstimulation/general overwhelmedness. Lamont just being very used to curling up and riding out illness/injury alone, and Margo refusing to let him do that and giving him lots of gentle touch and kisses, is such a soft spot for me, as is the fact that she can read his mind and hear his distress from miles away, so he literally cannot hide any kind of suffering from her.

I think my favourite thing about these two is that Cage's arc can be read not just as becoming a better person thanks to Rita, but as becoming a better and better sub thanks to her. He straight-up goes from 'bratty sub who doesn't know he's a sub' to 'please tie me the Fuck up and do what you will with me because life sucks and I am so sorry' - a slow Sub Awakening to Rita's domme who doesn't know she's a domme. Unfortunately, since they're living through the literal apocalypse and there's no time for recreation let alone soul-searching, Cage's becoming a better sub translates to his becoming more and more desperately in need of being taken into subspace, and suffering more and more the longer he endures without it. I keep seeing the pre-chopper scene as a breaking point of sorts, with Cage not only begging Rita for a reprieve from seeing her die, but for a chance to spend a quiet ten minutes serving her.
So, whether set during the time loops or afterwards, I am very much here for angsty sub!Cage. If it's post-war, what causes Rita's domme awakening - does Cage hang around being a sad puppy trying to fetch and carry for her long enough that she starts to get a clue? Does he try to get his fix of subbing elsewhere, and end up dropping to the extent that someone recognizes the signs? Or does she only really figure it out when she puts him on his knees and sees the look in his eyes?
Also, if it's post-movie, I feel like Cage might suffer some health fallout from the looping and from dying repeatedly; and Rita might have some issues herself from living through the war. So how does Rita deal with having a sub with, say, PTSD flashbacks or panic attacks? Or with him suffering chronic pain and/or chronic fatigue from his many deaths? How does Cage help her with her own possible PTSD from the war? So many feelings.

While they were really cute together for some time, I actually don't think Mav and Charlie were really as perfect as they seemed to be. Charlie has her good points - she's strong and knowledgeable and romantic - but when she asked Mav out, even that very first time, it was to pump him for information; and when she decided to give him a pep talk, she went about it by cutting him down and calling him a coward while he was clearly still in overwhelming shock and grief. And meanwhile Mav, though he is self-centred and a bit of a showoff, does not have a mean bone in his body: he never retaliates, never even tries to defend himself from her. That's not a great relationship, and it doesn't say much for Mav's self-worth either - and it's why I think their dynamic as domme and sub could be really messed up. (...She also constantly and pointedly calls him 'Pete' or 'Pete Mitchell' instead of his chosen name, which puts my back up so bad. Call him by the name he wants to be called, ffs.)To be fair, I don't think Charlie was necessarily intentionally hurtful toward Mav; I think she's fond of him but doesn't understand him, and doesn't care for him enough to try. (I also think she's a little inconsiderate of him and has a mean streak, and that Mav is really kind of a mess and is miserably in love with her and would kinda let her keep hurting him on the grounds that she didn't mean to.) So I'm here for Mav being a messed-up sub to Charlie. For him needing the rush and relief of submission so much that he doesn't realize she might not be the right domme for him. For him wanting her love so much that he doesn't realize she's not good to him any more, or for him thinking he's wanting too much when he dares to imagine he might be happier if she were a little nicer. For him wanting so badly just to submit and be taken out of his head, wanting so badly just to trust somebody, that he forgets d/s should be fun for him as well. OFC/Mav could be very much an extension of these same issues, but could also be softer and sweeter. I could see him still being deeply embarrassed to ask for aftercare or softness, but one day having a surprisingly happy, gentle, aftercare-filled experience with a random lady he met in a bar, or eating out a stranger to distract himself from his own self-loathing and ending up having a great time bonding with her over a few drinks afterward, even if he never sees her again. CANON DOMME/SUB DYNAMICS RIGHT HERE! These two were flirting so hard from the very moment they met, Max was so very domme and Ethan so very subby and eager, and it was fully mutual and consensual - they may be rivals in an uneasy allyship, but they like and respect each other so damn much; they both play completely fair at all times, clearly enjoy their banter, and look like they'd be all over each other should circumstance permit. So my prompt here is...let circumstance permit.
There's a sort of deep affection between these two that goes beyond their fiery sexual tension. When Max and Ethan met, Ethan was at his shakiest and most vulnerable; he'd just lost his whole found family in one night, and been framed for their deaths when he tried to call for help. He put up a damn good front for Max - he had to, playing the high-stakes cloak-and-dagger spy game he was forced to play - but it's not unreasonable to figure she might realize there's something else beneath the surface. Not unreasonable to figure an experienced domme could tell what he needs, and that she might want to give.
Max is a whole lot taller than Ethan as well as being much older, which I find all kinds of lovely; she also lives a super luxurious high-society life. I imagine she also has fine taste in clothes and jewellery and would take them off a partner with some attention, and appreciate the same being done for her, especially at her direction. Ethan is the kind to be similarly attuned to detail, and (especially when as young as he is around the time of MI:1) he is also the kind to be breathlessly eager to please and to be Good. He's also shaken up and miserably touch-starved, and might tear up on receiving unexpected physical affection, so make of that what you will.
Maybe Ethan lets Max take him to bed during MI:1, or maybe they run into each other afterwards by chance, and pick up their recent acquaintance right where it left off. Maybe Max takes him out to dinner or the opera or something equally opulent and befitting her position in high society, and spoils him rotten for the night; what's Max's belongs to Max, and nobody gets to touch him but her. Especially if he's fresh from a mission and hurt or ill, but still so very eager to suit up and take her arm and be the best damn service sub for her. Maybe she'll keep him protectively close at her side all evening, gently clean blood off his injured face and hands with her handkerchief, make sure to let him know how very good he's being, and then bind his wrists or cover his eyes with his own necktie in the bedroom later.
...Or maybe they just fall into bed, and it just so happens that Max is completely in control, as Max is wont to be. And Max, good at being gentle but firm, can tell when a sub is hurting, or when they want to safeword but don't, or when they want to keep going but are too injured or sick to make it much further, and she breaks the scene to give Ethan the comfort he needs, even if she may never know what caused the hurt.

Sarah Davies/Ethan
I really like Ethan's dynamic with his original team, before it all went to hell in the first half-hour of MI: 1. For Ethan/Sarah, I'm mostly thinking about an exploration of that dynamic set pre-MI:1 - it's easy to read Ethan and Jack's gentle banter as both Ethan and Jack pining a little bit for Sarah, who's a bit older and more experienced as an agent than they are. Ethan's very clearly the baby of this team, and it looks like they haven't been working together long enough to develop the quiet intimacy Ethan has with his current team. It's also pretty much canon that Ethan's nowhere near the badass flirty spy archetype outside of missions, but an awkward nerd instead, doubly so with people he's really fond of. This team is all quiet people, but Sarah seems the quietest, and I think she'd take to the quiet nerd side of Ethan a great deal.
I would love to see Ethan pining for Sarah for a while, hardly daring to think she'd like him back, and Sarah being the one to kiss him or ask him out. I'd love to see all the soft hurt/comfort, their low-key, quiet little team-within-the-team dynamic, see Ethan just absolutely unable to believe Sarah would look twice at him and blush deeply or hide his face when she kisses him. She's a more senior agent than he is, definitely knows her way around the world; I could see her being put in charge of missions with this team when Jim was unavailable - so it feels likely that Ethan is already used to taking orders from her, and might have already had vague thoughts about wanting to do so in a romantic-sexual way. I'd love to see Sarah being protective of him, both in the field and out, looking out for his comfort even while she's tying him up with his necktie or the waistband off her dress. I'd love her to be very aware that he's completely starstruck and would do anything for her, and therefore always ask him to do gentle, easy things (honour bondage, instructing him how to undress her and take her hair down, telling him how and where to kiss her) - unless it's a matter of life and death. I'd love to see her use her Domme Voice to stop Ethan doing something that would put him in mortal danger during a mission, and then being super gentle with him in bed when he's hurt afterwards. I'd also just generally love to see her ordering Ethan to stay still while she patches him up when he's injured, or wrapping him in blankets/cradling his head in her lap when he's sick or possibly hypothermic as a result of a mission.
Of course, canonically, this ends in tragedy, with Sarah dying traumatically at the beginning of MI:1. I feel like they weren't together for long before that point, and I'm very open to hearing about Ethan coping with the heartbreak of losing her so awfully, in addition to the trauma and horror of that whole night and the rest of the film.

I love these two because they're so very similar! I love them SO MUCH as kickass spy friends-with-D/s-benefits, but I'm not opposed to that growing into more. Their canon dynamic is full of mutual respect, collaborative ass-kicking, and...that one quiet moment of shared grief, in which Ethan Tried To Help Jane get over her grief and survivor's guilt, and even kinda succeeded a little bit. They both like to be in control but can both wing it when necessary, they both have massive guilt/martyr complexes, they're both excellent mission leaders who are tough as hell but secretly incredibly gentle. Jane is just a little bit less experienced in the field than Ethan, and just a little more of a hothead, but Ethan's been there himself and can clearly point her gently in the right direction without cramping her style.
I love that Jane is tall enough to cradle Ethan's head against her shoulder even if they're both barefoot, and even more easily if she's in heels. I love that she's strong enough to hold Ethan down, strong enough to hurt him and loving enough to not hurt him, and that they have such deep professional trust in each other that they just might get off on trusting each other in bed, too.
I'd love to see them making out and/or having sex in a happy, laughing, mid-or post-successful-mission adrenaline high, with both of them ill or injured in different ways and having to be gentle because of it, but also knowing exactly which boundaries to push and exactly how much pain can be a little bit fun. Maybe Jane holding Ethan down or pinning him by his wrists, and Ethan letting her because he trusts her so much and god knows he's earned a little indulgence of his submissive tendencies tonight. Maybe suit kink or just suit porn (Jane in a tux right alongside Ethan? Meow, yes please.) Maybe one of them accidentally moving wrong enough to aggravate an injury and the other apologizing/holding them in a sudden switch from happy-playful-roughish to soft and gentle. During Canon: Dr Hineman coercing John into sex while he's literally on the verge of dying from her plant poison.
This film is full of sexual creepiness towards John - the doctor and nurse hitting on him, Hineman forcibly kissing him, and on a more subtle, insidious level there's Burgess calling him "my boy" and the film implying he's been John's sole emotional support for the past six years - and then revealing he's been manipulating him (and enabling his drug habit) all along.
Hineman is so deeply creepy and unsettling - she's almost a more intimidating villain than Burgess. That nonconsensual kiss while John was almost dying was all kinds of horrible, and I could easily see her deciding that wasn't all she wanted. John's already affected by the poison from Hineman's plants that grabbed him and cut him; he's barely able to speak until a few minutes after he chokes the antidote down. Maybe the antidote takes longer to work than we're shown, leaves John weaker than we're shown. Maybe it's a hallucinogen or other mental state altering substance in its own right. I'm down for Hineman coercing and/or forcing John into sex while he's too desperate and emotionally fucked up to really understand what's going on - I'm also down for him enjoying it, for her really blowing his mind and making sure that he enjoys it, and him having really conflicted feelings about it after the film.
Post-Canon: John's getting back together with Lara really, really not going well.
Post-canon, I'm really interested in how John deals and how he recovers. I'm here for John suffering through aftereffects of the halo (neurological symptoms, maybe migraines, auras, nightmares, flashbacks, days when he's trapped back in that world of torment and can't make it out, not knowing what's real) and dealing with suddenly being blind in one eye, as well as the loss of everything that's helped him survive the past six years. I'm also very here for his addiction getting worse until it reaches breaking point and he has to suffer through getting clean, withdrawal symptoms and all.
I'm pretty annoyed about the ending of the film, so I'm very much down to read John and Lara making an attempt to get back together that doesn't go well - her trying to pressure him into making things work while he's all kinds of fucked up both physically and mentally, and him just not being able to deal with anything about it, especially the constant memories of their past life together on top of all the health issues he's dealing with. They both seem heavy on denial as a coping mechanism, so I could see Lara just trying to ignore how sick and hurt John is, and him following her lead and trying to ignore it too until it gets bad enough that he can't any more. I'm down to read her pressuring John into sex when he's too sick or hurting too badly or too far gone on neuroin to want it, or even to actively participate, and him being so unwell that he eventually just gives in to her despite everything.

I'd love to see him reconstruct his life when he gets better, and adjust to a new normal with essentially a chronic illness if the effects of the halo get better but never fully leave.

Oblivion has a whole bunch of interestingly messed up character dynamics. Jack - any/every Jack - is a lovely, lovely man, whimsical and gentle, and he's in a relationship with Vika, who (though it's clearly because she has issues of her own) is subtly super controlling toward him. He can't tell her anything or talk to her about anything he does or finds or thinks about, because he knows she'll find something about it he 'shouldn't' be thinking or doing; he hides his book and his little forest hideout from her, no matter how badly he clearly wants her to share in them. When he tries, just a little, to get her to see his point of view, she panics and throws his flower away, and he looks so very miserable. In short, I don't think Vika really knows Jack at all - nor does she really know herself at all - and so their relationship ends up more or less inadvertently hurting him. I don't think Vika means to be cruel, but I think she kind of ends up being cruel sometimes anyway, and that's the dynamic I'd love to see explored between these two. Maybe Jack's sick or hurt, and Vika refuses to believe him when he tells her so, and insists on having rough sex anyway. Maybe they're having sex and she ignores him when he asks to stop, or ignores a safeword, and maybe that hurts him physically as well as violating his trust. Maybe she believes that for them to be an 'effective team', she needs to discipline him whenever he does something outside of routine. (Maybe he even liked that to begin with, as a roleplay of sorts, and later realized she didn't quite mean it as roleplay.) Maybe she gaslights him into believing he consented when he didn't. Maybe she's dismissive of his illness or pain or nightmares, but he lives for the few words of comfort she'll bother to give him because he knows it's the best he'll ever get. I'm down for all the sad, complicated dynamics between the 49s or 52s, but I'm also down for exploration of other Jack/Vika couples where that Vika is even more overtly abusive; here are some more specific thoughts about Vika sexually assaulting Jack and the trauma he'd have to live with from it.
With Jack and Julia, things are different and much kinder and sweeter, but consent-wise possibly murkier still. There's genuine feeling between them, genuine memories, but those memories aren't Jack's own, and so Jack 49 has to come to terms not only with the fact that he's never been loved but that, to Julia, he's a replacement goldfish. There's a reluctance to him when she drags him to bed, a possible feeling that he's being used, and yet he goes along with it for the sake of feeling loved for that one night - and then he gives everything up so everyone but him can live. What's going through Jack 49's head when he's letting Julia love him? Is he desperately drinking in her touch, knowing it was never meant for him? Is he in denial? Half overwhelmed and wanting to stop, but also wanting to go on because he needs to comfort her and keep her safe and happy? Is Julia a gentler domme than Vika, and does it hurt that he never got to receive such gentleness before? Does it hurt that that gentleness was meant for Commander Harper instead of him? What about Jack 52, after the film - does he go through similar things?
I'd be very here for Julia having healed a little during the three years it took 52 to find her, and having come to terms with knowing that 49 was an individual in his own right, that 52 is as well, and that while neither of them is her dead Jack, she has a lot of love to give 52 as himself. Maybe 52 hasn't yet come to terms with that himself, and is struggling and trying his best to be her dead husband, or just to please her in whatever way he can, and Julia has to figure out how much that's stressing him and help him find himself, the real him, differences and similarities to the other Jacks and all, in the bedroom and out, with lots of encouragement and praise.

I'd love some h/c focused on Lamont, with Margo being able to read his thoughts and taking none of his self-loathing/self-sacrificial bullshit. This canon begs for a delightful mix of vigilante h/c tropes and psychic superpowers h/c tropes and I am weak.
I love that in canon, the Margo/Lamont relationship is both beautifully soft and founded in the very basic tenets of consent: Margo is among the only people Lamont's mind-influencing powers don't work on, and therefore by definition she is at his side solely because she wants to be. This messes with Lamont's head a great deal, since he's an enormous disaster sub with a ton of guilt and self-worth issues and doesn't remotely believe he deserves to be loved.
I'd love to see something that picks up after the film, with established Lamont/Margo dealing with the hazards of the vigilante business - perhaps Margo finding an injured Lamont collapsed on her doorstep and having to look after him, perhaps her hearing his mind call out from miles away when he's hurting or miserable, perhaps them having to find ways to keep up their Socialite Personas for the public, such as Margo sneaking Lamont out of a party with clear We're Going To Make Out signals while he's really staggering from a gunshot wound. All the Noir Detective and Noir Vigilante and Noir Caretaking tropes! I will eat all the tropes up with a spoon!
I'd also love some exploration of the Shadow superpowers and how they work (and how they can go wrong) - perhaps with Lamont losing control of them when he's unconscious while hurt or ill, resulting in things breaking, flying around the room, people accidentally getting mind-controlled into doing odd things, maybe someone getting mildly injured, and Lamont being overwhelmed with guilt and hiding himself away when he's losing control for years until Margo realizes she's the only one who can help. I'd also love to see the effects of Lamont sometimes overusing his powers and working himself to exhaustion - perhaps it gives him migraines or gets him sick, leaving him shaky for a few days afterward, or exhausts him to the point of burnout, and this too has been going on for years before Margo walks into his life and realizes he's a whole idiot who can't sustain this way of working forever. Perhaps his occasional bouts of overusing-powers-sickness have been mistaken as hangovers or other debauchery by his uncle/butler/etc, and he's done nothing to disabuse them of the notion because it suits him for them to assume he's an empty-headed layabout. (Perhaps someone finds him in a gutter one morning too deeply unconscious to make it home, and it makes the tabloids and his uncle gives him a Stern Talking-To that he has to pretend he's taking to heart, while Margo knows the real reason and worries and shows up to domme him into letting her look after him.)
Speaking of Margo domming Lamont into letting her look after him, that's the exact dynamic for them that I love. Margo is super assertive, knows exactly what she wants at all times, is very very sexual and horny on main, and she's also very generous with comfort when Lamont needs it. Lamont, meanwhile, is all haunted and racked with guilt for his past, and afraid he'll hurt her, and also kind of awkward and embarrassed by her boldness; embarrassed to be wanted as much as she wants him. I'd love to see her taking him in hand and showing him how to let go of his guilt and nervousness and place his trust in her - him all reverent and worshipful, her patiently finding out what he needs (even if it's a long-term project, and even if what he needs is pain or bondage - perhaps especially if it is!), and maybe her giving him lots of praise and aftercare as a reward for being good for her. I also think Lamont might, in his self-flagellating way, sometimes go too far in asking for pain, and Margo might have to figure out when those times are, take care of him and reassure him, and figure out how to help him stop doing that.
I love the idea of Margo putting Lamont in shibari while he's sick, perhaps because they've found it helps keep his powers or power-induced sickness/headaches/burnout in check, perhaps as a simple exercise in comforting touch. I love the idea of Lamont just...not being able to deal with tenderness and being loved, especially so when he's ill or hurt, and Margo having to kiss away tears of sensory overstimulation/general overwhelmedness. Lamont just being very used to curling up and riding out illness/injury alone, and Margo refusing to let him do that and giving him lots of gentle touch and kisses, is such a soft spot for me, as is the fact that she can read his mind and hear his distress from miles away, so he literally cannot hide any kind of suffering from her.

I think my favourite thing about these two is that Cage's arc can be read not just as becoming a better person thanks to Rita, but as becoming a better and better sub thanks to her. He straight-up goes from 'bratty sub who doesn't know he's a sub' to 'please tie me the Fuck up and do what you will with me because life sucks and I am so sorry' - a slow Sub Awakening to Rita's domme who doesn't know she's a domme. Unfortunately, since they're living through the literal apocalypse and there's no time for recreation let alone soul-searching, Cage's becoming a better sub translates to his becoming more and more desperately in need of being taken into subspace, and suffering more and more the longer he endures without it. I keep seeing the pre-chopper scene as a breaking point of sorts, with Cage not only begging Rita for a reprieve from seeing her die, but for a chance to spend a quiet ten minutes serving her.
So, whether set during the time loops or afterwards, I am very much here for angsty sub!Cage. Also, if it's post-movie, I feel like Cage might suffer some health fallout from the looping and from dying repeatedly; and Rita might have some issues herself from living through the war. So how does Rita deal with having a sub with, say, PTSD flashbacks or panic attacks? Or with him suffering chronic pain and/or chronic fatigue from his many deaths? How does Cage help her with her own possible PTSD from the war? So many feelings.

While they were really cute together for some time, I actually don't think Mav and Charlie were really as perfect as they seemed to be. Charlie has her good points - she's strong and knowledgeable and romantic - but when she asked Mav out, even that very first time, it was to pump him for information; and when she decided to give him a pep talk, she went about it by cutting him down and calling him a coward while he was clearly still in overwhelming shock and grief. And meanwhile Mav, though he is self-centred and a bit of a showoff, does not have a mean bone in his body: he never retaliates, never even tries to defend himself from her. That's not a great relationship, and it doesn't say much for Mav's self-worth either - and it's why I think their dynamic as domme and sub could be really messed up. So I'm here for Mav being a messed-up sub to Charlie. For him needing the rush and relief of submission so much that he doesn't realize she might not be the right domme for him. For him wanting her love so much that he doesn't realize she's not good to him any more, or for him thinking he's wanting too much when he dares to imagine he might be happier if she were a little nicer. I could see him still being deeply embarrassed to ask for aftercare or softness, but one day having a surprisingly happy, gentle, aftercare-filled experience with a random lady he met in a bar, or eating out a stranger to distract himself from his own self-loathing and ending up having a great time bonding with her over a few drinks afterward, even if he never sees her again.
